New Nemato Corp. Skutter {Skimmer/Gutter}
Allows A Pressurized System Gutter Capabilities
CUSTOMER: Sunnyview School, Toronto District School Board, Toronto Ontario Canada
EQUIPMENT: Nemato Corp. - NFS-SKUTTER Combination Skimmer / Gutter
INSTALLED: July 2006
HISTORY: Sunnyview School is a specialized school for mentally and physically handicapped children. The school has two pools. The Main Pool is approximately 20' x 40' and the Therapy Pool is approximately 20' x 30'. Both pools are used for
recreation and therapy.
Sunnyview School's Therapy Pool was scheduled for a renovation and filter change in 2006 and the problem was the pool had a very limited gutter system. When they had a regular bather load, the pool would overflow onto the deck. The engineer was looking for a solution where they could keep the water level in the pool lower but still have constant skimming ability while utilizing the gutter system when there was a bather load.
SOLUTION: The engineer contacted Nemato and requested help in designing a system that would solve the problem. Steve Andrews along with Adam Scott and Rein Aaslepp from Nemato visited the site to find a solution.
Once Mr. Andrews observed the situation, he knew exactly how to handle the problem. He had designed a similar product in the past and he knew with a few modifications it would suit this application perfectly.
The "Skutter" has a grate style face with an internal weir that acts as a skimmer when the pool is bather free and the water level is at its lowest. The profile of the Skutter was made to match the existing edge of the gutter system. The horizontal section of the "Skutter" also has a grate in it to allow for the surface skimming when there is a bather load and the water level rises. There is a conventional skimmer attached to the "Skutter" at the back to allow the system to remain pressurized.
RESULTS: The Chief Facility Operator says the system works perfectly. He maintains the water level a few inches below the top of the pool and when the pool is used it flows over the edge of the "Skutter". The overflowing of the water onto the deck has been eliminated. He is so pleased with his new system that he is hoping to have the Main Pool retrofitted in 2007.
